If you plan only one family activity on your BY THE WYE HOLIDAY, make it a Woody Wilding adventure. Our Woodland Ranger knows the woods like the back of his hands. His enthusiasm is hard to resist and you can’t fail to be swept along as you learn about the animals, trees and plants. Book a family activity and explore the woods, learn the essentials of outdoor survival or take your children on a Mini Wilding adventure.
WOODLAND DISCOVERY
Add a fun family activity to your stay at By the Wye. Learn how to find the best shelter location and build it. Then learn to light a fire with modern and traditional methods. Can you boil water to make some mint tea (or hot chocolate!) and toast your marshmallow? Depending on the season and natural resources, our Woodland Ranger may also show you how to make nettle rope, or forage for wild food.

WOODY WILDLING ADVENTURE
Kids, here is your chance to become a Woody Wildling! Bring some grown-ups and join our Woodland Ranger on a short woodland walk. You’ll learn loads, in fact – everything you need to be a Woody Wildling! Catch bugs in our mini beast pots for a closer look, learn all about plants and trees, play games and make woodland crafts. At the end of this family activity you will take home a Woody Wildling badge and certificate.
Duration: 1½ hours (approx.)
Price: Child £15, two adults for free!

WOODLAND SCAVENGER HUNT & MINDFUL NATURE WALK
This lovely ‘Scavenger Hunt and Mindfulness in Nature’ activity pack comes with two activity sheets and crayons. With this mindfulness activity, children and adults can learn how to be more aware of their surroundings, find an engaging active way to calm down, develop focusing skills. Children learn through play, observation, and exploration. Children gain so much through both guided and free exploration of the world around them.

HALLOWEEN PUMPKIN CARVING WORKSHOP
Halloween isn’t the same without spooky pumpkin heads flickering on the doorstep. So pop along to our special workshops running this October and let your imaginations run wild … who will carve the most frightening faces? We’ll treat you to a complimentary hot chocolate and toasted marshmallow on completion of your masterpiece.

MEET YOUR FOREST RANGER
By the Wye has a resident Woodland Ranger called Dan. An arboriculturist by trade, he has a passion for the local wildlife and is ready and eager to share his woodland skills and the secrets of the woodlands with you. Stalk through the nighttime woods on a family activity trying to spot elusive animals. Discover where the wild garlic grows or how to brew a mint tea.
Leading you on your Woodland Wildling activities, Dan will show you all the hidden workings of the forest!

Safety
There is a wide choice of indoor and outdoor family activities on offer for you to enjoy on your glamping break. We are constantly reviewing government guidelines and committed to offer a selection that we are confident are safe to run for you and your family:
- Family activites must be booked via the email or added to your basket when booking a stay online, either before or during your stay – activities will be available to book from 4 weeks before you arrive.
- You will be able to pre-register guests on to your booked activities, so our team knows who will be participating.
- Our colleagues will be wearing PPE where necessary and some activities may require you to bring your own face covering, but this will be stated on your itinerary
- Hygiene will be increased throughout our activities, with handwashing required before and after activities
