The Smallholding and Countryside Festival is a weekend-long event, with smallholders and those who have a love of the outdoors at its heart.

With an emphasis on celebrating smallholding and rural life, the festival will be packed full of interesting things to see, delicious food and drink, live music, country sports, shopping, demonstrations, fun, educational activities and many different types of livestock, horses and other animals taking part in a busy two-day schedule of competitions and displays.

The world’s largest philosophy and music festival, HowTheLightGetsIn, touches down in the Wye Valley for the 11th year running in May 2020 with more ideas, magic, music and wonder than ever before. The world’s leading thinkers, from mind-boggling philosophers to award-winning scientists via renowned journalists and headline-making politicians, will gather to debate the most urgent and fascinating topics of our time. In the past, speakers from Deborah Levy to Rory Stewart have conferred on post-truth and patriarchy, the rise of China and decline of the West, the ethics of plastic surgery, and so much more. Debates will take place alongside a stellar line-up of musicians and comedians, following in the footsteps of stars like Lianne LaHavas, Ana Matronic, Donovan, James Acaster and Lou Sanders, all set in atmospheric and intimate venues.

The Royal Welsh Show

The pinnacle event in the British agricultural calendar, the Royal Welsh Show, will be held on 20 – 23 July 2020 at the showground in Llanelwedd.

Along with an exciting four-days of livestock competitions, with entries travelling from far and wide to compete, the show has something to interest everyone through its wide range of activities including forestry, horticulture, crafts, countryside sports, shopping, food and drink and a 12-hour programme each day of exciting entertainment, attractions and displays.

WW2 – 75 Years

HAY commemorates 75 years since World War 2. Re-enactors will be camped around the castle grounds including Monty’s Double, Oma Bradley. Sir Winston Churchill portrayed by Derek Herbert. Parade from main car park. Service of remembrance at the Memorial. Services led by a military parade, Emma Brown (Soprano), Surrey Police Band, and massed choirs.
